Julia Pevzner, Stage Director

Born in Russia, Pevzner immigrated to Israel in 1991.

She has directed many opera production in Israel, Europe and the USA including The Tsar’s Bride (Rimsky-Korsakov) at the Bolshoi in Moscow, L’Italiana in Algeri (Rossini) in Indiana, Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky) in Chicago Lyric and the San Francisco Opera, Yevgeny Onegin (Tchaikovsky) and La Boheme (Puccini) at the Virginia Opera, The Nose (Shostakovich) and Maria Padilla (Donizetti) at the Opera Boston, Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Shostakovich) at the Israeli Opera, Pique Dame at the Dallas Opera and at the Lucerne Zaubersee Festival, Nabucco at the Greek National Opera and others. She has also directed world premieres by Israeli composers including The Happy Prince (Gil Shohat),  The Inn of Spirits (Moshe Zorman), Golem 13 (Noam Sheriff), The Wondrous Woman Within Us (Osnat Netzer), The Animal Farm (Matan Porat), Half-Moon Tale (Michael Shenhav), Mitz Petel (Yonatan Karet) and others. She is on the faculty of the International Vocal Art Institute’s workshop in Israel where she staged La Suor Angelica and Gianni Schichi (Puccini), Aleko (Rachmaninov) and Carmen (Bizet).

She was the Artistic Director of the Voice of Music at the Upper Galilee Children Festival, the Artistic Advisor of the Red Sea Classic Musica Festival and a Music Consultant of the Tel Aviv Yaffo Municipality.

In 2016-2022, she was a Head of Production at The Israeli Opera, and 2022-2025 she was Head of International Relations at The Israeli Opera.
